Your questions answered
Everything you might want to ask.
Everything from how our programs work to scheduling and payment — grouped so you can find what you need. If your question isn't here, just call Joe and ask.
Before you call
Is the quote really free?
Yes. We come out, walk your lawn and give you a free, no-obligation quote — usually the same day. Joe will tell you straight what your lawn actually needs and lay out a treatment program built around it, rather than pushing a one-size-fits-all package at you.
Will I actually deal with Joe?
Yes. Joe Brown founded Great Expectations and is out on the lawns himself, with his sons working alongside him — which is exactly why clients name him personally in their reviews, from 'Joe's personal service is absolutely top-notch' to 'Mr. Joe Brown provides yard advice that helps to keep my grass healthy.' He brings more than 15 years of lawn and landscape experience to every visit.
Which areas do you cover?
We're based in Fuquay-Varina and treat lawns across Angier, Willow Springs, Apex and the nearby communities south of Raleigh. If you're close to our patch but not sure you're in it, just ask — we'll tell you straight and get a free quote out to you.
Do you do one-off treatments or full programs?
Both, but most lawns do best on a program. A single application can knock back weeds or feed the grass once, but the thick, green, weed-free lawn our clients rave about is built by doing the right things in the right order all season. We'll happily start with what you need and build from there.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes — a 5% discount for past and current military members, as a thank-you for your service. Mention it when you get in touch and we'll apply it to your program.
The treatments
What's the difference between liquid and granular fertilizer?
Both feed the lawn, but they work on different timelines. Liquid fertilizer gives an instant injection of nutrients for a quick response; granular fertilizer releases nutrients steadily over a longer period. We choose which to apply based on the purpose of each individual application through the season, so the lawn gets what it needs, when it needs it.
How do you handle weeds?
From both directions. Pre-emergent herbicide is a preventative treatment that stops weeds from ever emerging from the ground; post-emergent herbicide is the curative treatment for anything already growing in your lawn. And you don't have to wait for the next scheduled visit — free spot-spray touch-ups in between are part of the service.
What do aeration and overseeding actually do?
Core aeration pulls small plugs of soil to loosen compacted ground and improve airflow, water absorption and nutrient delivery to the roots. Overseeding adds fresh grass seed to repair thin or bare areas and build density. We combine the two for the best result — aerating first opens the soil so new seed has the contact and room it needs to take hold.
Are the pest and mosquito treatments safe around my family?
Yes. We use effective, eco-friendly treatment solutions for fire ants, insects and fungus to protect your lawn and your family, and our mosquito and tick treatments are chosen to be safe and reliable so your yard stays comfortable and secure. It's about handing your outdoor space back to you, not trading one problem for another.
Scheduling & payment
How will I know what's happening and when?
You'll get timely emails about your service schedule ahead of each visit — one of the things clients specifically thank us for. Joe also takes the time to explain what he's applying and why, so you're never in the dark about what's being done to your lawn.
How does payment work?
Payment is due upon successful completion of service. We keep it simple with paperless invoicing and automatic credit-card payment on file, and we accept all major credit and debit cards. No paperwork to chase, no surprises.
How long before I see results?
Some things — like knocking back visible weeds — show quickly. But a genuinely thick, healthy lawn is built over a season and gets better with each one, as clients moving from their first treated year into their second consistently tell us. We adjust the program as your lawn responds and keep improving it.
What are your hours?
We're out on lawns Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and closed weekends. The fastest way to get moving is a call or a message — free quotes usually go out the same day.
Still wondering about something?
The quickest way to a straight answer is a call or an email with a photo of your lawn. Quotes are free, with no obligation and no pressure.
